Red Light Districts

Beer Bar Central is the best option for single male traveler looking for companionship and nightlife entertainment in Lamai. This area hosts the town’s largest concentration of girlie bars and can be found just a few minutes walk away from the more family friendly Lamai Central Plaza. Crowd is a little older, very few couples around so the bargirls are more brash, fun and energetic. This redlight district is comprised of a large beer bar complex at it’s centre surrounded with more girlie bars sprinkled along it’s interconnected streets, all of which are competing for the chance to go make your at night. Your best bet is to just wander around this busy areas until you find something that catches your fancy, beware what you pick as some bars have also ladyboys working.

Drinking Street is a open-air beer bar complex found in North Pattaya on the corner of 2nd road and Soi 1, directly opposite from the Tiffany Ladyboy Cabaret show. Despite of it’s out of the way location, Drinking Street has managed to grow over the years from a tiny little enclave made up of a handful of hut style bars to a large open-air stadium sized complex of 20+ bars. Drinks here are quite a bargain compared with the prices of Walking Street, though there are a little more expensive at the bars at the front of the complex than in the middle or back. there’s a good overall chilled atmosphere, quite a pleasant place to drop by the evening for having a few cold beers and chat with friendly bar staff. There’s an abundance of pool tables and the ladies will be happy to have a game with you. Greeting you when you pass beneath the monstrous ‘Nana Entertainment Plaza’ sign is a mass of flashy neon signs, yelling at you from all directions. Shouting even louder than the neon lights is the intriguing cast of characters upfront, bargirls & ladyboys and  who will try and accost you in a lighthearted and nonthreatening fashion to get you to visit their respective gogo bars. Nana Plaza is Bangkok’s most notorious red light districts, this large complex comprising of three floors of go go bars.The bars generally open around 8PM, but there are bars full of more discreet hostesses that are open all hours. In fact, the entire top end of this street, nearest the BTS Nana station, is dominated by bars and girls. On the ground floor are mostly open-air beer bars to choose from. Girls will try to tempt you in for a drink or a game of Jenga but not much really happens here. The shows and the A Go Go Bars with naughty names like Lollipop,Pretty Lady and Red Lips are located on the first floor. Girls here will step into your path and will try to drag you in for a look with a naughty laugh.

Redlight district of Pattaya

Soi Cowboy is a great place to experience a laid-back and carnavalesque like red light district with flashing neon lights up a colorfully and sexily dressed girls. Located along a short walking street with around you will swiftly be greeted by cries of ‘heeeellooaaaoa, weeeeelcoooome!’ where bargirls will try to lure you into one of the 20 or so A go-go bars that line its sides… don’t be shy, it’s pretty easy going and open-minded, entry is always free and drink prices are fixed. No traps or scams… so just sit and order a drink!

Soi Diana (Officially Soi 13 off Second Road), got it’s name derived from one of the oldest and original hotel that was built on it’s street way back when, the Diana Inn. Stretching some 400 meters long, Soi Diana links Pattaya 2nd road to Soi Buakhao and Soi LK Metro. Taken together, these three streets make up one of the popular entertainment and nightlife areas of Pattaya. Probably the 2rd or 3th biggest in terms of naughty nightlife venues after Walking Street and the beer bar enclaves of Soi 6 & Soi 7/8. There’s all the options one would need for a great night out and everything is within easy walking distance from one another. The main attractions at the heart of Soi Diana are it’s high energy beer bar complex and coyote bars. As you get towards the end of Soi Diana, a little before you exit onto Soi Bukhao, don’t miss the archways that the entrance to Soi LK Metro om your left, this L-shaped street is place is a must see. Walking Street might still be the best place to go in town for go-go bars but Soi LK Metro is the 2nd just right after.

Soi Reggae is a kilometre long lane found on the Chaweng Lakeside, it’s name derives from the popular Reggae Pub found at its end, one of the oldest and top rated venues for nightlife in Samui. The Reggae Pub is a large, two-story club that usually kicks off the evening with live bands playing a mix of reggae and popular rock ballads until around midnight, from where DJ’s take over and play more modern electronic beats until 2-3AM. Atmosphere is friendly, laid-back and drink prices are quite competitive priced. The freelancers here are generally more aggressively friendly than in other clubs. I’ve noticed over the years that the area has seen a slow and steady decline in popularity with the rise of places like Soi Green Mango and the ARK Bar’s beach parties but it usually still fills up and gets quite busy from 11PM onwards. Out on the 200 meter long street leading to the Reggae Pub is where you will find the Chaweng’s second largest concentration of beer bars, expect loud music, bargirls on both sides of the street shrieking the usual welcomingly: “hello sexy man” at passers-by while trying to pull you in their bar a few laughs, […]

Located smack in the middle of Bangla road, Soi Sea Dragon is one of biggest and busiest beer bar enclaves of Phuket’s nightlife scene. This spacey, colourful and fun 100 meters long horse shoe shaped alley is comprised of an unusual two-storey complex of about 50 colourful girly bars lined back to back at it’s center, each sporting it’s own particular ambiance and feel. The whole complex got a major face lift in 2012 with the addition of a roof (similar to the one Nana Plaza got recently), which is especially welcome during the the wet season when the island is often hit by tropical downpours. There is also now a DJ in a booth on the top floor that spins tunes for the whole complex and some pretty flashy light effects adding to the already great atmosphere. Otherwise nothing much has changed, you still have the same army of loud and funny bargirls all fighting for your attention as you pass by their bar, the usual connect 4 and Jenga games to break the ice while you get to know the hostesses before maybe taking one home for the night or a short time session at your hotel.
