The Ark Bar Beach Resort is a large complex featuring several bars and restaurants set up around a main swimming pool with swim up bar. This place is slap bang in the midst of all the hustle and bustle of Chaweng, just 2 minutes walk from Soi Green Mango and mostly caters to young party people (18 to 40 years old), who like to listen to DJ’s playing electronic beats. Typical day starts with chilling house music in the morning, that slowly gets louder in the afternoon and escalates until the whole place transforms into one big beach party at night. There are live DJ’s from 2PM until 02AM daily, two big beach parties each week on Wednesdays & Fridays plus pool parties going on around the clock, needless to say, don’t come here if you want to avoid party central. The resort does has two more secluded and relatively quiet pools if you really need some time off to recover after a long night out.
Rooms are pretty good for what you pay, been here a few times, pictures below are from my last trip during Songkran in the Premier Deluxe room category, Superior and Deluxe rooms are a little tighter for space at 21 m². Amenities are great regardless of the category though, Nothing to complain about: Good bed, nice 40-inch flat-screen tv with lots of channels, excellent WiFi signal, silent and efficient AC, proper storing space, fully packed mini-bar, nice balcony, good daily maid service, fresh towels and toiletries replenished daily.
In the end location is superb if you’re planning to go out and party every night. Do not book a room here if you are looking for a quiet, relaxing beach experience. Small tip, if you don’t expect to be up every night until 2AM, ask when checking-in for a room away from the beach.
